Roomly - Student Housing Platform

Roomly is a student housing platform built to make finding accommodation near campus safer, clearer, and less stressful. It connects students with verified properties and gives caretakers a structured way to list homes, manage bookings, and receive payments.

I built Roomly end to end, from the product idea and user flows through the platform, copy, interface, documentation, and operational details behind the experience. The product is shaped around a problem I had experienced directly: students often have to make high-stakes housing decisions through informal listings, inspection fees, incomplete information, and payment arrangements with little protection.

Product decisions

Roomly is designed around trust, not just listing volume. Verification, receipt records, refund protection, review quality, and clear status updates are part of the product experience because they address the uncertainty students face before and after payment.

The copy follows the same principle. Student-facing messaging explains what happens next and why each protection exists. Caretaker-facing messaging focuses on reach, secure payments, easier management, and direct withdrawals. The result is one platform with distinct journeys for the people searching for housing and the people supplying it.

Delivery

The project combines product thinking, interface decisions, engineering, UX writing, technical documentation, and the content needed to explain the platform to students, caretakers, developers, and potential partners. The student documentation and caretaker documentation show how the product's different user journeys are explained in practice.
